Do Long Lists of Passwords Compromise Your Network Security? New Network Management Appliance Solves Problem.

A patented network management appliance is brought to market to meet needs of network administrators for remote network management. It eliminates problem caused by long lists of passwords known to past employees who can still get into a network years after leaving the company.

/24-7PressRelease/ - RICHMOND, VA, March 06, 2007 - Engedi Technologies, Inc and Velocite Systems have entered into a distribution and service support agreement to market a patented network management appliance developed by Engedi to enable remote network management and to better protect networks from unauthorized or inappropriate access. Too many networks today lack a secure remote management capability for network administrators to access and control remotely located network devices. Often a long list of passwords to remote network locations is created and then circulated among the network administrators who may be employees or consultants. As employees and consultants come and go from an organization those password lists remain largely unchanged and known to all, creating a security vulnerability. In far too many networks past employees and consultants still know the passwords to access network sites. Engedi and Velocite address these concerns by bringing the Key2 Secure Remote Management appliance (SRMa) to market.

The Key2 SRMa is also built to be operationally capable for the next generation of the internet known as IPv6. That compatibility makes the Key2 SRMa suitable for the IPv4 network of today and the IPv6 network of tomorrow.

The Key2 Secure Remote Management appliance (SRMa) is patented technology developed for the needs of the network administrator. Operating the network is less expensive when this remote network management appliance is placed in network, and then the remote management of the network is more secure and less vulnerable to attack. As networks continue to grow in size and importance the security of network operations also grows. Companies and individuals need reliable networks and they depend upon the security of the underlying network infrastructure. The patented Key2 SRMa is an inexpensive solution to meet these important needs.

The internet is moving toward ever greater use of audio and video, delivering rich content that is increasingly interactive with the user. The network infrastructure is being updated from the current IPv4 standard to next generation IPv6 to better handle and enable the evolving richness of internet content. Infrastructure devices that are IPv6 capable now are ready to serve as networks are upgraded for the future. Those IPv6 capable devices will not have to be changed out or replaced as the IPv6 standard is implemented. The Key2 Secure Remote Management appliance (SRMa) is built for IPv6 capability.

"Network operators need a remote network management capability that is easy to use and maintains security of the network. Long lists of passwords known to past employees or consultants is an all too common concern that is eliminated by use of the patented Key2 SRMa," said Mr. Craig Palmore, Director of Business Development for Engedi. "Remote network management is a necessity for large distributed networks. Having an appliance such as the Key2 SRMa available to network administrators meets a growing need for secure network operations. The IPv6 capabilities of the SRMa enable the appliance to support the evolution of the network through the next generation."

"We are pleased to manufacture, market and support the Key2 SRMa. Our support services include training, help desk, installation and warranty service. Velocite Systems manufacturers and supports a variety of custom computer platforms and network devices. Marketing advanced network technology and providing post sale services are Velocite core strengths. The IPv6 capable Key2 SRMa is a network appliance that we are excited to bring to our customers and to the network operator marketplace," said Dr. Robert Cook, the CEO of Velocite Systems.
