New Year, New Smile From North Andover Orthodontic Braces Provider

Dr. Stephen Weisner, a board certified Methuen and North Andover, MA orthodontic braces provider, offers patients a new smile for the New Year.

METHUEN, MA, December 30, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- With the New Year on the horizon, a lot of people reflect on the past 12 months and begin to think about how they can improve themselves in the coming year.

This year, refrain from the usual resolutions and consider a smile makeover, said Dr. Stephen Weisner, a Methuen and North Andover orthodontic braces provider.

Patients now have more choices when it comes to choosing which type of treatment is right for them.

Orthodontic Options
Metal braces can have either silver or gold wires and are known as colored braces with changeable elastic o-shaped rubber bands. They are ideal for correcting many types of malocclusions and discomfort is temporary once the mouth gets used to wires and brackets. Patients are asked to avoid chewy, sticky and crunchy foods as they could damage brackets, undo bands and twist wires.

Ceramic braces are made to "blend in" with the teeth and are used to treat moderate to severe orthodontic problems. Patients that smoke or drink coffee have experienced staining of the bands, but it is temporary, as they will be replaced monthly. The same sticky, chewy and crunchy foods are to be avoided to prevent damage to the wires, brackets and bands.

The Invisalign treatment system is a series of custom-made, clear aligners used to gradually straighten teeth without metal wires and brackets. Patients will change out their aligners every two weeks and visit the orthodontist for a new set every four to six weeks. They can be removed to eat, drink, brush and floss.

"A consultation is the perfect way to decide which treatment is for you," said Weisner. "At the end of the initial evaluation you will know what your treatment includes and how much it will cost. It's your decision on how you want to move forward."
