With a professional history dating back an impressive 28 years, Dr. Meier serves as proprietor of Flourish! Personal Coaching, which provides individual and group coaching services. Dr. Meier's areas of expertise include career development, wellness coaching, adult ADHD coaching, doctoral coaching, and training program design. She manages one-on-one coaching with clients, runs programs for groups and individuals, and mentors other coaches. As a coach, she utilizes internet social media, stress resilience techniques, positive psychology principles, and social intervention methods to enable her clients to discover how to create fulfilling personal and professional lives.

Dr. Meier taught was a research professor in the School of Social Work at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 1999 to 2008. She has done extensive publishing in the areas of public health interventions and technology-mediated interventions. Prior to pursuing her doctoral studies in 1993, she served as a substance abuse counselor and unit supervisor at AdCare Hospital in Worcester, Mass. She was subsequently the founding director of a statewide program for professional training in substance abuse at AdCare Educational Institute. Until 2011, Dr. Meier was licensed as a clinical addictions specialist in North Carolina.

The highlight of Dr. Meier's career as a professor was conducting leading edge research on technology-mediated social support, including the telephone support groups and Internet-based support communities. As a coach, she particularly enjoys working with brilliant doctoral students. Her aim is to ensure that they complete their dissertations as quickly as possible and maintain their passion about the ideas that inspired their research, so they stay motivated to pursue their life missions after graduation. She attributes her success to her love of helping people live up to their potential and find joy in life, along with her curiosity, patience, compassion and lively sense of humor.

Dr. Meier holds a Ph.D. from the School of Social Work at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She also earned a master's degree in counseling and consulting psychology from Harvard Graduate School of Education and a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of Michigan. Dr. Meier is a certified clinical hypnotherapist. She became certified as a professional coach in 2011. Her professional memberships include the International Coach Federation and the Association for the Advancement of Social Work with Groups. She also serves on the Boards of Directors of the Grillo Health Information Center (Boulder, CO) and Reiki for Peace (Israel). Looking ahead, Dr. Meier hopes to continue to help people while still finding time to enjoy her life and family. She also intends to continue doing public speaking and conducting research on innovative approaches to coaching adults.
