Dr. Kerber has been selected as a VIP Member for 2011-2012

PITTSBURGH, PA, February 6, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Melanie Kerber, Principal of Sto-Rox High School, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in education.

Dr. Kerber has 35 years of experience in education and has spent the last five years as the principal of Sto-Rox High School. Her role entails overseeing all of the day-to-day activities of the shcool, coordinating between the teachers and administrative staff, and taking on simultaneous roles of social worker, school nurse, financial adviser and guidance counselor.

In the mid 1970s, Dr. Kerber embarked on a career path in special education. It has been a pleasure for her to lead four public and private schools into the 21st century, because she is always mindful that children are tomorrow's leaders and society has to do all that is possible to prepare them for the considerable challenges that await them. The highlight of Dr. Kerber's career was seeing the some of the most at-risk students graduate and go on to do remarkable things with their lives.

A graduate of West Virginia University, Dr. Kerber holds an Ed.D. in special education and a minor in administration. She also holds a master's degree in special education from West Virginia University and a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Edinboro University. She is a member of the Council for

Exceptional Children, Pennsylvania Association of Elementary School Principals, National Association of Elementary School Principals, and Phi Delta Kappa International.

In light of her accomplishments, Dr. Kerber was been recognized by both Cambridge Who's Who and Phi Delta Kappa International in 2011. Over the years, she has also received a Certificates of Commendation from the Lieutenant Governors of Pennsylvania and West Virginia, an Education Excellence Award from Commonwealth Academy, a Franklin Award from the Department of State, and various other awards. Dr. Kerber hopes to continue affecting change in educational practices, but on a larger scale.
