CHARLOTTE, NC, February 9, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marie Hassel, Vice President of Sterling Development Co., has been named a Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Real Estate. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Cambridge Who's Who membership.

Ms. Hassel is a 25-year veteran of the real estate industry with 18 years of experience as vice president of Sterling Development Co. Her many responsibilities include handling the company's financial matters, taxes, accounting, budgeting, showings, commercial sites, human resource functions, and managing the employees' profit sharing plan trust accounts. She also coordinates with construction crews and accepts bids.

After becoming a widow, Ms. Hassel started working in the accounting department of a preschool. Her boss owned 24 commercial properties, so she obtained a broker's license and progressed into the position she holds today. Ms. Hassel attributes her success to being driven; she will pursue something until she accomplishes it, and whatever task she takes on, she will do it well.

A graduate of East Carolina University, Ms. Hassel holds a Bachelor of Arts in history. She also holds a North Carolina State paralegal certification from Duke University and is a certified broker in charge (in N.C. and S.C.), designated by the North Carolina Real Estate Commission and the South Carolina Real Estate Commission. She is also a North Carolina Notary. Looking forward, Ms. Hassel will continue her education and move forward in the pursuit of a position in management.
