BRONXVILLE, NY, February 14, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Orlando Mancini, President and Owner of GIO Corporation, has been named a Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Sales & Distribution. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Cambridge Who's Who.
Mr. Mancini began his highly successful 45-year career in food sales & distribution at 15 years of age; by 17, he was named manager of a retail food store and his future was bright. He then went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Business and Marketing from Pace University in New York and throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s, he worked for food brokers and represented Nissin Foods, which recognized him with an achievement award. He was also the broker representative who called on the White Rose Food account, and based on his increasing their overall business with the manufacturers he represented, the company honored him with their Broker Salesperson of the Year award. During this period, he also received a Broker Headquarters Salesman of the Year award, Broker Sales Manager of the Year award, Yoo-Hoo Sales award and was named Retail Sales Supervisor of the Year.
In 1997, Mr. Mancini struck out on his own and established GIO Corporation, a distribution company that provides national brand products and closeouts to consumers. Not only does Mr. Mancini enjoy overseeing GIO's daily operations, which include approving purchase and sales decisions, he also uses his expertise to ferret out new opportunities for GIO to transact business on an international level. He is known as a fair and assertive problem solver who makes his employees part of the solution not part of the problem.
To keep current with ever-evolving industry trends and issues, Mr. Mancini has attended a variety of workshops on subjects such as active listening; time, stress and category management; and buying motion. He also learned a great deal through seminars given by Quaker Oats, ECR Europe, Spectra Training and Harvard Graphics. He maintains memberships with the National Association of Wholesale Distributor, National Food Distributors Association, National Soft Drink Association, National Confectioners Association, Food Marketing Institute and Independent Grocers Alliance. He looks forward to continuing to expand his business.
