WASHINGTON, DC, April 14, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- A public-private Nicaraguan delegation will be visiting the state of Georgia with the purpose of fostering a closer business relation and an active commercial exchange between Nicaragua and the aforementioned state, as well as to encourage investment initiatives.

During this visit, PRONicaragua, the official investment promotion agency, and the American Chamber of Commerce in Nicaragua (AMCHAM) will be hosting a networking reception on Wednesday, April 25th, with the purpose of creating a conducive atmosphere in which Georgia's businesspeople, mainly from the apparel, light manufacturing and agribusiness industries, and government representatives will be able to interact with their Nicaraguan counterparts.

At the networking reception, participants will have the opportunity to learn why Nicaragua has experienced important macroeconomic growth, attracting increasing amounts of foreign direct investments year after year. Additionally, foreign investors established in Nicaragua will share their experience of doing business in the country, highlighting the successful development of their investment projects.

Furthermore, PRONicaragua will be a special guest in this year's edition of Texprocess Americas tradeshow at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. During the International Trade Update Symposium, to be held on April 26th, the agency will be presenting Nicaragua's investment opportunities and competitive advantages vs. other Asian countries in the textiles and apparel sector.

According to the Office of Textiles and Apparel (OTEXA) of the U.S. Department of Commerce, by December 2011 Nicaragua was the 11th largest worldwide apparel supplier to the U.S. in volume and the 12th largest in value, thus becoming an important player in the global textile and apparel industry. When comparing figures between 2011 and 2010, apparel exports to the U.S. from Nicaragua grew by 33 percent in value reaching US$1,356.9 million and 13 percent in volume reaching 409.5 million square meters.
