FLIR's New T-series Line of Thermal Cameras Uses New MSX Image Enhancement Technology to Solve Long Standing Difficulties in Thermography

FLIR unveiled the new FLIR T420, T440 T620 and T640 Thermal Imagers with MSX Multi-Spectral Dynamic Imaging. The T440 and T640 use MSX to layer the detail of visible spectrum images onto thermal spectrum images. Previously impossible in thermography.

CALGARY, AB, April 19, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- FLIR Systems released an entirely new T-series of thermal imagers with their FLIR T420, T440 T620 and T640 infrared cameras. These high-performance infrared cameras launch the MSX technology, a first for any thermal imager. The MSX used in the T440 and T460 instantly highlights where the problem area is for easier orientation to help customers and co-workers see what needs repairing.

A regular thermal image only displays heat signatures, so key details apparent to the eye can be lost in the haze if they are a similar temperature. FLIR cameras with MSX use two internal 5MP digital cameras to enhance the thermal image. The high-contrast skeletonized visual image allows for key aspects of the visible spectrum to be overlaid on top of the thermal output while still keeping the important thermal information prominent.

"On the trip down to FLIR's event, I wasn't sure what to expect from the products - it's rare for a manufacturer to overhaul all of its major product lines in one twelve month span - how much new innovation could we expect?" said VP of Marketing at Optimum Energy, Darren Carter.

But he was remarkably impressed when the new units were revealed.

"I think that the marketplace will come to love MSX. It's one of those rare once-in-a- decade 'a-ha' features that once you've used it, you'll wonder how you ever managed before."

The same two digital cameras used in MSX imaging also enable parallax compensation to give the T-series the fastest auto-focus in the industry.

The T-series also introduces other new features, like remote control via an iPad or Android device. This allows thermographers to work from a distance when issues like arc flash safety are a concern.

This host of new abilities put the T-series firmly in the high end of professional thermography cameras.

Optimum Energy is a licensed FLIR distributor for North America with Level 1 and 2 thermographers on staff ready to answer and technical questions. All the cameras in the new Flir T-series are available for order now on ShopFlir.com.
