Joe McDilda oversees both science and strategy in developing new bakery products

TULSA, OK, April 20, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Joseph McDilda, Vice President Research and Development for The Bama Companies, Inc., has been named a Worldwide Who's Who Professional of the Year in Food Product Development and Manufacturing. While inclusion in Worldwide Who's Who is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Worldwide Who's Who membership.

Mr. McDilda has 26 years of experience in food product development and manufacturing and has been a vice president of The Bama Companies, Inc., since 2010. His areas of expertise include strategic development, process engineering, management, statistical process control, systems analysis, food science, microbiology, dough products, packaging and product life cycles. The company supplies custom bakery products to the food service industry, and Mr. McDilda is responsible for overseeing worldwide development of locally relevant frozen dough products. As vice president of research and development, he works on both science and strategy, designing products and overseeing production on three continents: Asia, Europe and North America.

The holder of six U.S. patents, Mr. McDilda became involved in his profession through his lifelong curiosity about how things work, especially with regard to food chemistry and production. He attributes his success to his ability to develop new food solutions in a variety of areas. He also believes that his ability to accept change and develop contingencies in advance is a key element of his success.

Mr. McDilda holds a Master of Science in microbiology and a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering, both from The University of Minnesota. He is a member of several industry-related organizations, including the Institute of Food Technologists, American Institute of Chemical Engineers and IFMA.

Mr. McDilda has done public speaking on new product development, published articles and received internal awards. In five years, he intends to continue advancing within the industry, both domestically and internationally.
