4 Day Nosework Seminar Aug. 3 Through Aug. 6, 2012

The Dog Squad of Oakland, CA will be sponsoring a 4 day K-9 Nosework seminar taught by Andrew Ramsey of Ramsey K-9 Services.

EL CERRITO, CA, April 23, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Dog Squad of Oakland, CA today announced that they will be sponsoring a 4 day K-9 Nosework seminar taught by Andrew Ramsey of Ramsey K-9 Services. The workshop will be held at the scenic Boy Scout Camp, Camp Herms, in the El Cerrito hills near Tilden Park.

Steve Bettcher, President of The Dog Squad, explained the motivation for the seminar, saying, "Nosework is becoming a popular activity and competition for dogs and their owners. It is based on and inspired by detection training for working canines."

The teaching techniques used by Andrew Ramsey use the same foundation training that are used to train Law Enforcement and Military Detection K-9's, but are geared for handlers and their pet dogs who want to enter the world of Nosework for fun or competition.

Even though the seminar is not designed specifically as a foundation for any type of professional detection work, Mr. Ramsey uses the same techniques so that you and your dog can develop and maximize your potential as a team to just have fun with your dog or to go on and compete for titles.

The purpose of Andrew's Nosework Seminar is to introduce and engage the dog to the game of searching for a target odor and to teach the handler how to build a strong working partnership between the two of them by properly motivating, handling, reading and rewarding the dog.

Any dog regardless of age, breed, size or temperament can enjoy and benefit from this activity. Dogs even with limited obedience skills can benefit and learn. Nosework can build confidence in a shy dog, give an active dog an appropriate and challenging outlet for its energy and help the reactive dog overcome its environmental sensitivity. Nosework strengthens the bond between dog and handler and best of all it is fun!

The Seminar will be limited to 12 working teams and 12 observers/auditors.

- Price for working Teams will be $595 (Snacks and Lunch included)
- Price for Auditing will be $275 (Snacks and Lunch included)

- Early registration (before April 30, 2012) 15% Discount.
- Early registration (before June 30th) 10% Discount.
