SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO, April 24, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Annie Soto, Regional Director of Information Technology Program Management for Latin America at Merck & Co., Inc., has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in Information Technology.

Ms. Soto has 29 years of overall professional experience. She has spent the past 29 years within the same company, Merck & Co., Inc., a pharmaceutical drug company. The past two years of her career she has been in her current position as Regional Director of Information Technology Program Management. Ms. Soto has a multitude of responsibilities; luckily, her specialties in pharmaceutical sales and marketing, organizational problem solving, regional sales management and information technology ensures that she can keep up with anything thrown her way. Her many tasks include: managing key strategic programs for Sales and Marketing in all of Latin America, amongst these are projects that fall under the multi-channel arena; corporate events management; ensuring the sales and marketing departments operate in compliance with appropriate regulations; overseeing the daily business activities of departments; ensuring all projects and system solutions are integrated in such a way that they are in line with the company's overall business strategy; serving as the liaison between the global team and all Latin American markets; collaborating with the work of five direct reports: one in Mexico, one in Brazil, one in Central America, one in Ecuador and another in Colombia; coordinating with the program managers and different virtual teams; calling on these teams to revise solutions when needed; attending tele-conferences, and ensuring that programs and solutions are on track and within the strategy roadmap.

Seeing the many challenges of her position as a trade-off for being successful, Ms. Soto attributes her professional achievements to years of hard work. She became involved in this field because she studied technology, and IBM recommended her for a programming position with Schering Plough Corporation, which is where she was able to develop most of her skills that she puts to use today. Noticing her ability, Schering Plough offered her a job, which set the tone for her career path. She quickly advanced, became a systems analyst and information technology manager for Puerto Rico, and Director for the Latin America region, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Ms. Soto's academic career gave some hint to her profession pursuits. She earned a master's degree in finance which was preceded by a Bachelor of Science in computer science from the University of Puerto Rico. In addition, she fortified her higher education degrees by attaining Six Sigma Green Belt Certification in 2011 within Merck & Co., Inc.

Recognized for her thorough work, through her excellent track record, she has received various sales awards over the course of her career. In five years, Ms. Soto plans to have her own consulting business. She believes that becoming an entrepreneur would enable her to work with other companies in different industries.
