Utility and Galaxy 1 Announce Exclusive Satellite Data Integration

Vehicle cellular router now offers satellite data option

TUCKER, GA, May 22, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Utility, Inc., a provider of technology and services that allow first responders and utilities to more effectively command, control and support mobile field operations, announced today a satellite data integration with Galaxy 1. The Galaxy 1 satellite data service and mobile satellite antenna hardware is now integrated with Utility's Rocket vehicle router.

The Galaxy 1 integration provides global satellite data coverage in addition to cellular data communications. The Rocket's least cost routing algorithm ensures reliable data communications coverage from anywhere while minimizing data communications costs.

CEO and co-founder Robert McKeeman is very pleased to announce the new addition to Utility's product offering. "While cellular data coverage continues to improve, there are still large areas where there is no cellular coverage. Our exclusive relationship with Galaxy 1 provides an integrated solution for customers who need global coverage, while leveraging the lower cost of cellular data whenever possible. Galaxy 1 is a satellite data market leader, and our customers will benefit from having an integrated satellite data option. We can now provide all the benefits that Lightsquared hoped to deliver, without impacting GPS reliability."

Galaxy 1 technical director Gino Jensen sees great customer interest in a cellular data option for the Galaxy 1 product line. "The Rocket vehicle router provides patent pending 3G and 4G cellular switching capability, so it is a natural fit for switching with our L-band satellite data service (up to 464Kb/s throughputs). The Rocket vehicle area network provides GPS position reporting, makes the vehicle a WiFi hot spot, integrates with the vehicle engine diagnostics, and reads active RFID tags. Our satellite data makes these vehicle area network functions available to our customers on a real time basis from anywhere in the world on a very cost effective basis."

Utility and Galaxy 1 will market each other's products and services, and provide extensive software as a service and on-going support for reliable field data communications around the world. Utility and Galaxy 1 products and services are available from resellers such as CDW and Insight, as well as a number of Public Safety videocam vendors who partner with Utility to provide ultra-fast upload of videocam data from vehicles to authorized access points with a secure chain of custody.
