OXFORDSHIRE, ENGLAND, May 27, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- To mark the sixtieth year of Elizabeth II's reign, Whittard of Chelsea, a historic, British tea and coffee retailer are releasing a selection of Diamond Jubilee and royal-themed china teapots, cups, saucers and mugs. A 'Loose Jubilee Blend' is also currently on offer, an exclusive fusion of Ceylon tea, marigold petals and the delicate flavours of apricot and peach. The selection of 'Long May She Reign Over Us China' and 'Diamond Jubilee Tins,' complete with tag and envelope teabags are aimed at those hoping to throw a royal tea party over the course of the long weekend.

Tea parties and street gatherings are encouraged over the four-day period to unite people under one banner and generate a feeling of community. To stage a successful Jubilee gathering takes time and planning.

Whittard of Chelsea have released a brief guide to help you on your way to throwing a successful Jubilee street party:

Initial Planning and Preparation:

- Start planning well in advance. You need to make sure your neighbours are on board or it is likely they will not appreciate the noise!
- To gain permission to close off your street it is necessary to contact your local authority and ask for permission. The earlier you do this, the more likely it is you will be allowed.
- Make sure you know all your guests dietary requirements - they isn't much worse than turning up at a party and not being able to eat anything!

Theme:

Decide upon a theme with some of your neighbours and friends. It should be fairly simple in order that all attendees are able to take part. The day will feel much more intimate and special if everyone is united under a single motif.

Here are some ideas for simple and easy themes:

British Theme: Have the tables draped in Union jacks and everyone drinking Earl Grey and English Breakfast from 1950s teacups and teapots.

Black Tie: Everyone wears eveningwear. Serve canapes with wine and champagne. Party in the style of the Royals!

Royal Theme: Everyone wears crowns (homemade or shop bought). Have cardboard cut outs of the Queen and Princes mid-royal wave. Invest in some jubilee themed decoration and utensils. Whittard of Chelsea offer a wide selection of Royal and jubilee themed items including teapots, saucers, teacups and various storage containers.

Organisation:

To make sure it is a truly communal affair, there are various factors that must be discussed amongst you.

-Who is in charge of what?
-Will someone be in charge of drinks, someone else responsible for food and someone else looking after entertainment?
- Will you provide plates and china or will people bring their own?
-Will there be a kitty or will you decide on a spending limit?

One way to be truly communal is for everyone to contribute something. Ask everyone to each bring chairs and a table, as well as providing an item of food and a bottle of something per household. Sharing drink and food, especially home-prepared dishes, is a really great way to get to know and form relationships with people.
