Ms. Steigleder-Archuletta has always had a desire to help people and communities. Throughout her career, she has honed her expertise in public safety and law enforcement with a focus on small communities. Drawing from her background, she established Community Stew three years ago with her husband, Eric. "We facilitate a community's ability to identify and utilize indigenous resources in meeting their goals at the grass roots level," she explains on her website, www.communitystew.org. In order to accomplish this, Community Stew works with individuals and groups on the three basic concepts of community building, leadership development and sustainability.
As co-director, Ms. Steigleder-Archuletta is responsible for handling the administrative and financial management aspects of her nonprofit organization. She also plans and hosts seminars and oversees engagement planning, municipalities and lesson plans. Looking toward the future, she hopes to reach as many people and communities across the country as possible.
Additionally, Ms. Steigleder-Archuletta has served on the board of directors for Theft Talk Counseling Services, a national theft prevention program. She holds an associate degree in criminal justice from Clackamas community college. In recognition of her exceptional work in public safety, she received a Distinguished Service Medal and Paul Chapman Medal in 2002. She was also named Police Officer of the Year in 1998 and 1999.
