Houston Chapter of Credit Unions is comprised of 107 area credit unions striving to be a local resource through education, communication, political involvement and community service.

The chapter recently raised over $18,000 for the Texas Children's Hospital, donated 7,000 backpacks filled with school supplies to Houston area school children and collected over 8,000 toys for the KHOU "Spirit of Texas Toy Drive" benefiting the Salvation Army.

Credit unions are a great source for financial services and are "the talk of the nation" as a result of dejected bank customers looking for viable alternatives. There are over 7,000 credit unions in the U.S. with over 500 in Texas. Over 90 million consumers selected a credit union for their financial services. CUNA (Credit Union National Administration) reports that consumers save an average of 6 billion dollars a year by using a credit union due to lower fees, lower rates on loans and credit cards, and higher deposit rates.
