Slabbert, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the Latin and Caribbean Region for Chartis Insurance, has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in ensuring the financial soundness of the companies and countries in that region.

Mr. Slabbert has been in the insurance industry for 15 years and was part of the team that helped see AIG through their financial crisis. He became involved in his profession after he became a Chartered Accountant, and looked for something in the financial sector that would also broaden his international experience. He was approached to join AIG and got involved in the international insurance operations. Mr. Slabbert has held a chief financial officer role for eight years, a controller role for six years. Whilst at Chartis Insurance, which covers personal, property, travel, accident & health and commercial insurance, Mr. Slabbert worked for financial institutions in the U.S., Europe, Africa, and Asia and continued to do so with Chartis.

In his current position as CFO for Chartis Insurance, he is responsible for financial reporting, managing the financial resources in the Latin and Caribbean region and looking at strategic investments. Following this, he also makes investment decisions and is in charge of the safe keeping of assets, reserves and taxes. Mr. Slabbert has had the advantage of being able to work with various different cultures, which has allowed him to network and build numerous professional relationships with contacts from around the world. He attributes his success to being hands on and ensuring processes are being implemented.

Mr. Slabbert received an MBA in International Financial Business from DeVry University (Keller Management School) in 2008 and a bachelor's degree in Accounting and Commerce from the University of Johannesburg in 1995. He is a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants. In the future, Mr. Slabbert intends to look at new opportunities with Chartis Insurance, specifically involving commercial experience outside the financial arena. Outside the work place, he enjoys playing golf.
