Alison Pyper Recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for Excellence in Nursing

    Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands, June 21, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Alison Pyper, Head of the Department of Infection Prevention and Control at Cheshire Hall for Interhealth Canada, has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in nursing.

Ms. Pyper has 25 years of experience in infection prevention, control and quality management. Her areas of expertise include establishing infection prevention and control systems, accreditation and commissioning, consultancy, education and research. In her position, she is responsible for maintaining a safe environment, working with laboratory personnel, adhering to standard and transmission based precautions, overseeing construction programs, establishing standards for practice, participating in health education, and researching products and suppliers. She also conducts surveys and audits of health care practices, and works with regional health care providers such as CAREC and PAHO. Ms. Pyper also acts as a facility resource for all infection control issues and participates in facility committees and other relevant projects.

Ms. Pyper studied at Cromwell District High School in New Zealand. She then went on to the Dunedin School of Nursing and worked at Alice Springs Hospital. She attended Sturt College of Advanced Education and Flinders Medical Centre in South Australia where she received her Infection Control Certificate. She attended the Menzies School of Health Research in Australia. She has certification in infection control (CIC) and is a registered maternity nurse and midwife. She also acquired a diploma in neurosurgical nursing. She was a member of the Australian Nursing Foundation Member (1997-2007), an executive member of the Australian Infection Control Association (1989-1997), and past president and Australasian representative to the International Federation of Infection Control (1993-1995). She is a life member of the Australian National Pioneer Women and a past member of the Australian Writers Guild. She received a Recognition Of Service award from AICA and Alice Springs Hospital. Ms. Pyper has broad and extensive overseas experience in intensive care and quality management in New Zealand, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Abu Dhabi, Dubai and the British West Indies. Looking ahead, Ms. Pyper hopes to help and mentor nurses who are new to their positions.
