After training as an elementary school teacher and raising a family, Ms. Dockendorf followed her passion and established her own alpaca business, Aragon Alpacas, in 2005. Never having owned livestock before, she is the primary shepherdess of 49 alpacas. She breeds and sells the animals, as well as shears and sells their cashmere-like fleece to manufacturers and artisans. Additionally, she created and maintains the business' website.

A graduate of Texas A&M University, Ms. Dockendorf received a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education. As a founding member of the Alpaca Breeders Connection, she leads educational seminars and mentors new alpaca owners. Ms. Dockendorf strives to improve the fleece through careful breeding selections, thus advancing the quality of the national alpaca herd. Her enthusiasm for these "lite livestock" is contagious.
