ADAMSTOWN, PITCAIRN ISLAND, July 23, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jacqui Christian, the Director of Pitcairn Travel, a local, privately owned business that offers travel services to the Pitcairn Islands, has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in travel services.

Established by Ms. Christian and the previous Pitcairn Commissioner, Leslie Jaques, the packages offered by Pitcairn Travel include flights from Papeete in Tahiti to Mangareva, the boat trip from Mangareva to Pitcairn Island, all Pitcairn Island fees and charges, food and accommodations and one night's accommodation back in Mangareva when necessary. Travelers also enjoy a night at the luxury Papeete Hotel, the Intercontinental and airport transfers. Pitcairn Travel's mission is to provide a safe, sturdy and value for money service to the Pitcairn Islands which will facilitate travel for locals as well as promote tourism.

As a native Pitcairn Islander, Jacqui Christian was inspired to assist in improving the economy within her homeland. After returning home in 2006, Ms. Christian assisted in the restructure of the government of Pitcairn Island as both a civil servant and an elected member of the Pitcairn Council. Armed with a vision and an affinity for holding leadership roles, in 2010, she assumed the position as the director of Pitcairn Travel.

Well known in her industry as a visionary, Ms. Christian attributes her success to hard work and a passion for preserving her childhood home. In addition to her work in the travel industry, Ms. Christian has experience in the pharmaceutical field. A graduate of Otago University in New Zealand with a bachelor's degree in pharmacy, she is a registered pharmacist in both Australia and the United Kingdom. Ms. Christian is a member of the Pharmaceutical Society and intends to continue her education in medicine in the coming years while continuing to build an economic future for Pitcairn with brand awareness for Pitcairn Travel through networking and consulting.

Currently the only way to visit Pitcairn is via a supply ship, the Claymore II, which calls quarterly. Work constraints and annual leave allocations do not always fit this schedule, so as demand increases, Ms. Christian hope to run trips in between quarterly excursions to give customers more flexible travel options. She understands the importance of her service, stating that, "Most people living on Pitcairn have relatives off island, and it is both expensive to visit family and difficult due to the remote location and infrequent service. If Pitcairn is to survive we must attract more people home to support our aging population. A successful tourism industry will create jobs and income for the community and the government. We hope to bring more tourists to Pitcairn and build a sustainable economy by creating a thriving private sector."
