Cambridge Who's Who Names Kathy Ann Coll Professional of the Year in Educational Leadership

Ms. Coll is dedicated to raising money for causes near and far

PITTSBURGH, PA, August 8, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Kathy Ann Coll, Leadership Consultant and Retired Teacher for North Allegheny School District, has been named a Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Educational Leadership. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Cambridge Who's Who membership.

Mrs. Coll's professional history spans an impressive 38 years, and she is an expert in idea leadership development and leadership education. As a teacher, her position entailed creating learning experiences in the ninth-grade English IMPACT Program, Leadership Development 1 & 2 classes and serving as Activities Director for the school and as Student Council Adviser for a Nationally Recognized Gold Council of Excellence. As a leadership consultant, she teaches adults and students valuable leadership and relationship skills including entrepreneurial leadership, ethics and principles of leadership and organizational and motivational team-building skills.

A natural giver, Mrs. Coll does fundraising for organizations working in Ivory Park, South Africa to build a community center that will support a soup kitchen, child care center, eye clinic, library and entrepreneurial meeting place for women in the community. She also supports her son Erik's medical missions in Guatemala, by accompanying the group and teaching and interacting with the children while their parents attend the clinic. Locally, she has helped her church fundraise and acquire a $100,000 pipe organ that was rescued from a closed local church. With teaching in her blood and a mother who was her greatest influence, Mrs. Coll attributes her success to her students, who have always motivated her to do more and help them on their leadership journey.

Mrs. Coll earned a Bachelor in Secondary English Education from Point Park University and a Master's degree in Public Leadership and Education from the University of Pittsburgh. She was recognized with the National Warren E. Shull Student Council Adviser of the Year Award in 2008, a USA Teacher Team Award in 2007 and a Robert Wolf Teacher of the Year Award in 1993.

In the next five years, Mrs. Coll hopes to work more with fundraisers by "Acting Locally, and Reaching Globally." She has already worked with students to raise $50,000 for the Ivory Park Project. She also plans to continue doing leadership consulting for students and adults and traveling around the world, which is her other passion. In closing, she lives by this quote given to her by her student teacher: "Excellence can be attained if you Care more than others think is wise. Risk more than others think is safe. Dream more than others think is practical, and Expect more than others think is possible."
