LITITZ, PA, August 17, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jason P. Goodman, a published author and the president and chief executive officer of Alchemy Studio, LLC, has been named a Worldwide Who's Who Professional of the Year in fine art. While inclusion in Worldwide Who's Who is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service and the credentials they have provided in association with their Worldwide Who's Who membership.

Established in 1970 in an old coal company office, "The Boston Coal Company", Alchemy Studio, LLC has been home to Jason Goodman's creations from the time when he had to use a pot belly coal stove for heat and the music of the Rolling Stones to help create his particular style of eclectic acrylic on canvas. Today, he continues to implement unique designs and a specific style throughout the world with his complete body of work.

Though he became involved in his profession through the influence of his mother, who is also an artist, Jason Goodman's childhood and relationship with his parents was far from healthy. Put to work at the age of 8, he remembers growing up in poverty with little to his name but an abusive father, 300 chickens and an outhouse. His life changed at 18 when he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and was allowed to complete an associate's degree in applied science, commercial art and advertising. At the age of 20, Jason was deployed to Vietnam to serve on active duty with the infamous "Riverine Forces" on the Mekong River, returning from war with a "frozen soul." Jason suffered from debilitating pain and post-traumatic stress disorder, which at the time, was not considered a combat related injury, and therefore not treated by the Veteran's Administration. After suffering for 13 years with this combat disorder, pretending everything was fine, he found he could get through the hard times by expressing himself through his art work. Jason's art was noticed by affluent and discriminating galleries and collectors, who purchased his work, but advised him to stay away from the facilities and show openings due to his lingering emotional trauma.

Drawn to the benefits of a 'love-hate' relationship with art, Jason went on to complete a bachelor's degree in art history and sculpture, then a second bachelor's degree in art education and ceramics from Florida Atlantic University, followed by a master's degree in art education and curriculum development from the university five years later. Trained by the well-known portrait painter Nicolo Cortilla, and equally well-known DC/Marvel Comic artist, Howard Purcell, Jason learned a traditional approach to different forms of art at a master level. He also translated his deep "frozen" emotions into poetry, becoming recognized as a poet laureate of the state of Florida in 1972. He published his first book of poetry, "Simple Reflections...on a Frozen Surface" in the late 1980's and another entitled "Nervous Reader" in 1992. Though his writing was exceptional, his experiences in war prevented his re-entry into the literary field until 2012 when his autobiography "A Puzzled Existence" was released.

In 1990, Jason experienced one of the highlights of his career; the establishment of a very successful advertising business in Charleston, South Carolina. Alchemy Studio, Inc. was generating a six figure gross income within six years. With the sale of this successful business and accounts, he returned to Pennsylvania to build his wife's dream house as well as take care of his aging parents, with whom he re-established his relationship after 27 years apart. Though he could never forget his father's abusive nature, Jason decided to make peace within himself by opting to provide for his parents a comfortable living situation in their final years of life.

Currently, when his combat injuries allow, Jason can be found in either his Ireland or Pennsylvania studio, painting acrylic on canvas and promoting his recently published autobiography, "A Puzzled Existence", which over the course of its 458 pages, presents the world with an uncut, realistic look at Jason's life at 60 years of age; 40 of those years as a professional artist. His book made the front page of his local newspaper, the Lititz Record Express, on May 24, 2012. On June 20, 2012, Jason and his wife Teresa were awarded certificates of achievement by the Wyoming County Historical Society for their works as published authors originating from that area of Pennsylvania.

"A Puzzled Existence" is currently available in both paperback and E-book format from Amazon.com and Kindle e-Books. As a postscript, Jason cannot stress enough that the context of this book is the most comprehensive account of his life, and this man has led a remarkable existence. To allow so many people to read his story, he must have a great sense of humor, because if his writing provides food for thought, then his book is a virtual banquet.

Jason was also contracted by the educational system in Victoria, Australia, to write a sculpture curriculum and technical journal, as well as to teach other educators in Victoria how to conduct their classes in this subject. While working in Victoria, Jason was also asked to record audio books for students with learning difficulties. Upon his return to the United States he completed a second manual for teaching sculpture in adult classes for the School District of Palm Beach County. Over the years, Jason has developed his own signature style in all he does, including writing, painting, sculpting and designing. He encourages his adult students to do the same, stating that after all, the world has already had one Jackson Pollack, and it doesn't need another.

For Jason, the most gratifying aspect of his career has been the introduction of his work into numerous museums and significant private collections. Compared to other artists, he differs in his methods of compensation, where as some artists charge on emotion, Jason considers time spent and cost of materials only, which has proven to be an effective method thus far. He also has not showcased his work in New York City, as he was rebuffed while trying to promote his work to many galleries there many years ago. Since becoming successful everywhere else in the world, he realizes that someday, his name will become so well known that people will ask why their New York galleries are not exhibiting his work.

Jason has been honored for numerous achievements in both art and poetry, as well for his service in the Navy. Earlier this year, he received a certificate of Lifetime Achievement from the Veterans of Foreign Wars for his work with other combat veterans. In the past he was given certificates of appreciation and recognition by Richard Nixon, Donald Rumsfeld and Senator Hollings of South Carolina. Considered a Disabled Vietnam Veteran of the United States Navy for his service from 1968-1970, Jason continues to work in his chosen professions, though at times it is difficult or almost impossible due to his combat-related injuries. Tragic though his story may be, Jason's time at war led him to kindle his love for art and the written word into a successful and rewarding career.
