NUEVO, CA, August 23, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Essie L. Bootsma, Co-Owner of John Bootsma Dairy, has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in agricultural services.

Ms. Bootsma helped her husband work at his family's dairy farm without prior experience. Through hard work, she learned as much as possible in a short time and raised 200 calves. The work then started to come naturally to her. Eventually, she ran the dairy farm while her husband took care of the calf business. She milks cows, treats them when they are sick and delivers their offspring. She also knows how to perform surgery on a cow's twisted stomach and serves as the electrician, plumber, mechanic and doctor for the cattle. For the past 12 years, Essie and her husband have run the farm together along with their son, Jason. A true family affair, their daughter, Chastity and her husband also have their own dairy.

Having achieved 42 years of agricultural success, Ms. Bootsma particularly highlights an event that occurred seven years ago, when she began a project to obtain supplemental water for 13 dairy families in her area. She succeeded in bringing sufficient water resources to every one of those farms.

Ms. Bootsma took classes in interior design and cooking in Chaffey College. At one point, she considered a career as a chef; if she and her husband did not own a dairy farm, she would have liked to own a bed and breakfast. Keeping up with the agriculture industry, she is the secretary of the California Milk Advisory Board and a board member of the Eastern Municipal Water District. She is also a secretary in the local chapter of WRAC. When she is not tending to her dairy farm, Ms. Bootsma spends her time sewing, cooking, entertaining and spending time with her five grandchildren. She also participates in various cancer walks.
