Worldwide Who's Who Names Cassandra Szoeke Professional of the Year in Clinical Research

Cassandra Szoeke has been a theme leader for the neurodegenerative disease and mental disorders program and then became clinical consultant for the Australian Commonwealth, Science, Industry and Research Organisation



    PARKVILLE, VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA, August 28, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Cassandra Szoeke, Director Women's Healthy Ageing Project at the National Ageing Research Institute, has been named a Worldwide Who's Who Professional of the Year in Clinical Research. While inclusion in Worldwide Who's Who is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Worldwide Who's Who membership.

Dr. Szoeke's passion for clinical research is apparent in more than a decade of experience in the field. For the past five years at National Ageing Research Institute, an institute that provides translational research to improve health care for our ageing populations, she has contributed to more than 50 publications, overseeing millions of dollars in funding and leading an Australian renowned study established 1991 into a new era of research and development whilst working as a clinician and in management. She has a broad range of research experience having trained as a general physician, then specialising as a neurologist with sub-specialisation in epilepsy and cognition.

Dr. Szoeke attributes her success to her drive to achieving healthier communities, loving her work and her broad education, which includes a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacology/Toxicology and Honours in Genomic Medicine, Bachelor of Medicine, a Bachelor of Surgery and a fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. She also earned a Ph.D. in epidemiology from the University of Melbourne with postdoctoral studies in the department of public health and economic policy at Stanford University California. Dr. Szoeke keeps herself updated of changes in health care through her professional activities and membership with the Australian Medical Association and the Royal College of Physicians. In the near future, she hopes to finalise the 20th follow-up year of the Women's Healthy Ageing Project currently underway which will provide a unique view on the mid-life antecedents of healthy ageing in Australia.
