An expert in 3D Petrel and a skilled geomodeller in the area of static 3D reservoir geomodelling, Paul Champ has more than a decade of professional experience working in the petroleum industry, eight of which he worked directly in a consultant senior geomodeller capacity. Over the course of his career, he has cultivated strong working relationships with a number of clientele and upheld an impressive reputation for his geomodelling capability and ability to manage projects efficiently and effectively.
Mr. Champ has built more than 60 individual static geomodels as a senior consultant utilising his knowledge base of the different classifications of oil and gas fields and several reservoir characterisation techniques. In his models, he has included fluvial channel sandstone reservoirs, deltaic and shallow marine environments, on-lapping and truncated multi-reservoir systems, incised channel reservoir modelling, advanced object modelling and channel geometries, heavy oil to tight gas fields, carbonate reservoirs, onshore, offshore, deepwater and shallow target fields, gas storage, complex structural regimes, complex fault intersection and truncated faulting. With such extensive experience in all types of reservoirs, Mr. Champ has employed numerous technically sound modelling methodologies and workflows that target specific field development scenarios. This specificity allows him to ensure that his 3D static geomodels properly represent the geology and well data provided, which in turn ensures client satisfaction.
Mr. Champ began his tenure in the oil and gas industry in 2000 following the completion of his bachelor's degree in applied science with a concentration in geology from the University of Ballarat. He transitioned into geomodelling in 2003, and prior to forming Blackrock Modelling Pty Ltd. in 2010, Mr. Champ worked as a senior geoscientist and geomodeller for RPS energy and as a project geoscientist for Troy-Ikoda. By continuously building on his experience, he became well equipped to establish his own consulting company, which has been highly successful since opening two years ago.
An active member of the professional community, Mr. Champ belongs to the American Association of Petroleum Geologists and the Australian Petroleum Production & Exploration Association Ltd. Away from the demands of running his consultancy, he enjoys traveling, sightseeing, popular culture, sports, exercising and swimming.
