SEAL BEACH, CA, September 21, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dawn Williams, Founder, Author, Publisher of Sunrise House Publishers, has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in writing, publishing, journalism and photojournalism.
With many years of professional experience, Ms. Williams publishes and writes children's books, manages layouts and printings and handles marketing, advertising and promotions for Sunrise House Publishers. After writing the "To This Very Day" series of children's picture books, she discovered that her biological father was Ted Lewis, a hit-making jazz legend from the 1920s. She wrote an award-winning book about his life from her unique point of view called, "Me and My Father's Shadow" and was nominated as a book author finalist for USA Book News and the International Book Awards. It also won the Entertainment Book of the Year Award in Hollywood, Calif. Additionally, she is a published author for The Los Angeles Times, The Christian Monitor, the Delano Record, Orange County Illustrated and The Arabian Sun. Ms. Williams is also an avid photographer; she was honorably mentioned at the First International Nikon Photography Contest and was Best of Show at the First Seal Beach Art Show. She came in first place at the First Annual Alumni Association Photography Contest at California University, Long Beach. Skilled in writing, publishing, journalism and photojournalism, she credits her success to her education, commitment and the quality of the books she publishes. Looking ahead, she hopes to experience growth and promote her books in all schools and public libraries.
Ms. Williams earned a bachelor's degree in speech from the University of California, Berkeley and a Bachelor of Arts in journalism from California State University in Long Beach. She then attained a master's degree in journalism from the University of Southern California and she will soon obtain a master's degree in interdisciplinary studies from California State College in Long Beach. Maintaining her professionalism, she is a member of Phi Delta Gamma, the Graduate Scholarship Honorary Disciplinary Organization, the Society of Professional Journalists, the National Press Photographers Association, the University of California Berkeley Alumni Association, the California State University Long Beach Alumni Association, the University of Southern California Alumni Association, Delta, Zeta and the American Business Women's Association. Aside from her professional career, Ms. Williams enjoys photography and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
