Blue Streak Stables Under New Management; New Owner Surveys Girl Scout Troop Leaders and Makes Changes

Blue Streak Stables Believes in Girls by Helping Them to Build Self-Confidence and Self-Esteem through Horsemanship and Fun Activities in a safe and beautiful horse camp in Seguin, Texas.

SAN ANTONIO, TX, September 28, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- After spending years managing marketing responsibilities for major companies such as Proctor & Gamble and Quaker Oats in South America and Mexico, and the last 15 years of his career producing the largest monthly Graphic Arts Magazine in Mexico, Jorge Merigo wanted a new career where he could work outdoors in a country setting. That's why he moved from Mexico City and bought Blue Streak Stables in Seguin.

Blue Streak Stables is a camp that hosts Girl Scouts for weekend camps in the spring and fall, and girls in general who are 7 to 15 years old for weeklong camps in the summer. The camps teach girls about horsemanship - from feeding, grooming, saddling and riding horses, to learning horse nutrition, horse psychology and anatomy. It has been in business for 15 years, hosting an average of 1,000 girls each year.

"I have two daughters. One is 13 and the other is 16 years old, and they both love horses," Merigo says. "In my previous jobs I traveled a lot and missed my girls. Now I have a new career that allows me to both work outdoors and spend more time with my daughters before they go away to college," he says.

Merigo says that this fall the one- or two-night weekend camps start Friday, Oct. 12. Girl Scouts who sign up can expect to do a lot with horses and experience cookouts over an open campfire and the roasting of hot dogs and S'mores. "We're also going to feature Karaoke in the recreation hall and popular horse movies outdoors in the evenings under the stars," Merigo says.

To assure Blue Streak Stables meets the needs of girls who visit the camp, Merigo arranged for a random survey of Girl Scout Troop Leaders who attended the camp earlier this year. "Their message was loud and clear," he says. "The girls want more time with horses, so we'll do everything possible to make that happen!"
