Best Plastic Surgeon in New Jersey Highlights Tummy Tuck Techniques

Despite eating healthy and exercising regularly, many people cannot eliminate the amount of excess skin in their abdomen. Best plastic surgeon in New Jersey Dr. Shain Cuber shares with patients surgical approaches for tummy tucks.

EDISON, NJ, December 24, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Many patients who are considering plastic surgery are aware that a tummy tuck is a procedure used to remove excess skin and fat from the abdomen. However, many people do not know that there is more than on type of tummy tuck available.

"Today, a tummy tuck is a broader term than it was several years ago," said Dr. Shain Cuber, best plastic surgeons in New Jersey. "Under the umbrella of tummy tuck you will find different surgical approaches, which is used depends on the patient."

Here are some of these approaches, performed by tummy tuck New Jersey surgeons:

Traditional
This approach has an incision low in the abdomen and involves removal of the belly button. Underlying muscles are tightened and excess skin is removed. This is ideal for women who have lost a lot of weight or who have sagging skin due to pregnancy.

Mini
When sagging skin and loose abdominal muscles are isolated below the belly button, a mini tuck is performed. The reason it is called a mini is because everything is done in small scale including the incision and the amount of skin that is removed.

Floating Navel
When patients experience sagging skin and muscles below the belly button with a small amount of loose skin above it, a floating navel approach is used. This procedure is similar to a traditional, but its general purpose is to move the navel a few centimeters.

Extended
This approach is used for patients who have loose skin in the abdomen, hips and sides of thelower back. The incision includes all of these areas to ensure all the muscles are tightened and the skin is removed. This is usually used in conjunction with liposuction.

Fleur-De-Lis
The incision is like a traditional; however there is an additional interior incision to allow for more skin to be removed. This is most commonly used for patients who have undergone bariatric surgery or who have lost more than 75 pounds.

Recovery time will vary for each procedure and will depend on the patient as well, said the breast augmentation specialist.
