Recognizing her passion for medicine and forte for the neurological sector of health care, Silvia Delgado completed an MD at the University of Havana, a residency training program in basic and clinical immunology at University of Guelph, research training in human reproduction at Harvard Medical School, and a residency training program in neurology through the Department of Neurology at Jackson Memorial Hospital. Upon completion of the degrees and residency training programs, Dr. Delgado embarked on a career in health care which has spanned 27 years.
For the past 11 years, Dr. Delgado has served as a neurologist in the multiple sclerosis division for the University of Miami. In her position, she leads as the director of the IV out-patient infusion center providing inpatient neurology services and general neurology consults. She also teaches neurology residents and medical students and, investigates several multi-center clinical trials regarding the treatment of multiple sclerosis. A proficient public speaker and author, Dr. Delgado regularly conducts lectures and contributes to publications regarding multiple sclerosis. Throughout the course of her impressive career, she has become an expert in clinical research, IV immunomodulating therapies for neurological conditions, treatment of patients with multiple sclerosis, the central nervous system, and related disorders.
Recognized for years of invaluable contributions to the field of health care, Dr. Delgado has garnered several awards. In 2012, she was accepted into the Worldwide Who's Who organization as a lifetime member. That same year, she was honored with a selection as Professional of the Year, representing the field of neurology. Dr. Delgado feels her success can be most aptly attributed to hard work, dedication, education, and application of the advice she received from mentors and teachers. In the coming years, she aims to share her expertise through public speaking, writing, networking, and consulting.
Dr. Delgado is a member of the American Academy of Neurology. She is charitably involved with her local church, community activities, and the local schools. She has also served in an integral role for the annual fundraising activities which benefit multiple sclerosis research. Outside the demands of her work, she enjoys watching movies with her family, swimming, going to the beach, and reading.
