/24-7PressRelease.com/ - February 10, 2005 - Edmonton, AB - A group of Canadian authors host the first annual A.F.T.E.R. fundraiser to raise money for the Canadian Red Cross and the tsunami-earthquake victims in Asia.

When: Saturday, February 19th from 11:00 to 6:00 pm

Who: Authors from Edmonton and surrounding areas ~
Authors: Cheryl Kaye Tardif, Sue Paulson, Jackson Carter, Joan Galat, Germaine Dechant, Joy Lardner, Gloria McInnis, Rosalie Rasmussen and more TBA!

What: Authors will be autographing and selling their books. 50% of the proceeds will be going to the Red Cross Tsunami Relief Fund.

Why: "We want to do something to show that Edmonton authors care!"

The public can come out, buy an autographed book, and know that 50% of the proceeds will be going to a worthy and needy cause. Tsunami victims desperately need food, clothing and shelter, just for basic survival. The necessity for medicine and medical care is growing steadily. This tragedy could have happened anywhere, to anyone.

At the end of this event, Cheryl Kaye Tardif, the event coordinator for A.F.T.E.R., will present a cheque to a Red Cross representative on behalf of all the authors involved. Red Cross collection boxes will be situated on the tables for those who wish to make a donation.

The media is welcome to attend and support this fundraiser, especially between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. when Starbucks will be graciously providing FREE COFFEE and PASTRIES to the public. Any media coverage prior to February 19th will be greatly appreciated by everyone involved in planning this event.

A website has been created to encourage other authors to join A.F.T.E.R., a strictly volunteer, non-profit group based in Edmonton, Alberta. The group was formed because Cheryl Kaye Tardif wanted to do something to help and she knew there were other authors who felt the same way.
