BARRIE, ONTARIO, CANADA, March 1, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Giselle Bodkin, Partner of BDO Canada LLP, has been named a Worldwide Who's Who Professional of the Year in Accounting. While inclusion in Worldwide Who's Who is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Worldwide Who's Who membership.

Ms. Bodkin has 25 years of experience in accounts management, with nine years as a partner of BDO Canada LLP. She is an expert in owner and manager succession planning, and as such, she is adept at helping people grow and succeed. In the course of her duties with BDO, she is responsible for directing the strategy plan for the firm, approving national budgets, and conducting training sessions with employees. She also oversees the company's taxation and accounting budgets, and manages a staff of 10 employees. Ms. Bodkin considers herself a protector of business owners' ability to grow their wealth into the future.
Ms. Bodkin attributes her success to the fact that she trained her team members to make sure that they all had the same core set of skills. She also credits her ability to network throughout her community. She became involved in her profession because she liked the variety that was involved in accounting.

Ms. Bodkin received a Bachelor of Commerce in accounting from the University of Windsor, where she graduated with honors in 1987, as well as a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from the University of Western Ontario in 1981. In addition to her degrees, she became a chartered accountant through the Institute of Chartered Accountants in 1989, and she is a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants, OCICA, and the Barrie Gulf and Country Club. In years to come, Ms. Bodkin would like to have more impact on Canadian companies and perform more management-oriented tasks within the firm.
