Fujitsu concludes data warehouse deal with Norfolk police

Norfolk Constabulary has signed up Fujitsu Services to deliver a data warehouse that will allow police force data to be combined and linked in one repository.

/24-7PressRelease/ - LONDON, UK, September 23, 2007 - Fujitsu Services, a leading IT services company, last week announced a contract with Norfolk Constabulary for a new data warehouse.
Data for the police force will be combined and linked to one warehouse in the future, thus giving more flexibility and better value for money, as well as allowing the force to carry out activities that are not currently possible.
Christine Thompson, information management business manager at Norfolk Constabulary, said the force had chosen Fujitsu "because it has access to more resources than the competition and put together the most persuasive tender document. This was backed up with a proven track record which gave us confidence in the company and their ability to deliver."
Fujitsu's data warehousing strategy is to extract data from the many information systems used by individual police forces across the UK in order to consolidate and improve its quality. This would „improve the police's ability to respond to the national policing requirements" Fujitsu claimed.
Fujitsu will work with its partners, SAS Software Limited and Amadeus Software Limited, to tackle a number of problems caused by multiple information systems with different collection and storage techniques.
Andy Sowden, head of police business at Fujitsu Services, said the deal with Norfolk police was, "an important project for us and one which will provide Norfolk Constabulary with a framework that will be able to cope with continued change - both at a local and a national level - and the many information requirements that will come their way in the future."
