AMERICAN RED CROSS - BROWARD CHAPTER DESIGNATED EXCLUSIVE BENEFICIARY OF INNOVATIVE FUNDRAISING PROMOTION

2007 South Florida Diamond Drive; Luxury Goods Offered at Wholesale Turn Savvy Consumers into Charitable Donors

/24-7PressRelease/ - FORT LAUDERDALE, FL, September 25, 2007 - The Broward County Chapter of the American Red Cross (ARC) has joined forces with Lauderdale-based MasterWorks, Inc., in an effort to benefit the ARC through the "South Florida Diamond Drive." The Drive, which runs from October through December 2007, will provide consumers with the opportunity to purchase Gemological Institute of America (GIA) certified diamonds at wholesale. MasterWorks has committed to donate proceeds from the Drive to the Broward County Chapter of the ARC.

With the upcoming Society Season drawing near, more and more organizations are looking for new and better ways to raise funds. While donors are prepared to make more substantial contributions than ever before, fundraising pioneers MasterWorks, Inc. (MWI) are expanding the traditional donor base dramatically, through the innovative "Diamond Drive" promotion. The Drive will generate donations by going outside the conventional paradigm of the black-tie gala, auction or walk-a-thon.

"We are granted the advantage of very significant pricing concessions, by virtue of our various philanthropic alliances with the purveyors of luxury goods," said Joel Bartlett, Director of Development for MasterWorks, Inc. "This Drive will allow us to pass these concessions on to consumers who wouldn't otherwise purchase this caliber of diamond, or be in the position to make a charitable donation after such a purchase. Essentially, they pay what the jewelers are paying, and the community benefits as well."

The Broward Chapter of the ARC is governed by a group of approximately 25 volunteer board members, representing a cross section of our very diverse community, including members of the Seminole Tribe, and a volunteer base of over 500 people. The chapter's services include educating the public about HIV/AIDS, CPR, First Aid, Swim and Lifeguard Certification Programs, responding to fires, tornadoes, and hurricanes, assisting military service men and women and their families with emergency communication, and much more. All the services provided are made possible through the generous contributions of time and money from the Broward Community.
