PerDM Predicts Growth Despite Slump in UK Economy

PerDM predicts a 5% growth for business at the end of the first quarter despite the gloom of the British economy.

CHESTER, ENGLAND, March 23, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- While predictions of a triple-dip recession seem to be coming a reality, small businesses demonstrate confidence regarding their own prospects according to new research. PerDM predicts a 5% growth for business at the end of the first quarter despite the gloom of the British economy.

According to the latest confidence benchmark by the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) and Deloitte, 51% of marketers in small organisations are more confident about their career prospects over the coming year compared to 2012. Furthermore, 28% of small business marketers predict a near-term increase in marketing expenditure. The benchmark involves a survey of 1,337 marketers questioned across various companies in January and February this year (marketingweekco.uk). "It is good to see the growing confidence of small businesses despite the difficult economic climate", says Ian Attwood, Director of PerDM, a field sales and marketing company. PerDM believes that many companies understand the need of innovation and look for new opportunities to enhance growth.

PerDM predicts a 5% growth after the first quarter of this year. "In the current economic climate, consumers think twice before they are willing to buy", says Ian Attwood. PerDM conducted research into consumer behaviour at the beginning of 2012 and found that eight in ten people were more likely to purchase a product or service if they have a pleasant conversation with a sales representative. "It sounds so simple but the results speak for themselves", says Ian Attwood. "We have focused on excellent customer service skills in the previous months in order to create a stronger connection between the brands we represent and their new customers." PerDM helps raise brand awareness on behalf of its clients by building long-lasting relationships. As a consequence, PerDM's clients have seen an increase in customer retention and brand loyalty.

Despite the growing confidence, CIM's head of insights Thomas Brown questions the extent to which this can be a long-term trend. He suggests: "It's going to be really interesting over the course of the year to see whether that near-term optimism is sustained quarter on quarter or whether it's more a case of New Year's optimism that doesn't follow through" (marketingweek.co.uk). Ian Attwood is certain that success will continue, especially with PerDM's strong focus on customer and client satisfaction. Many small firms share PerDM's enthusiasm for growth. According to the CIM survey, 42% of small business marketers report increasing confidence in business performance this year (marketingweek.co.uk). PerDM plans to expand into further markets by the close of 2013.
