Integrative Psychiatrists Brown & Gerbarg Teach "Breathe and Heal" for Trauma Relief on Live Webinar April 26-27

The workshop, open to anyone from around the world, will train health care providers and yoga therapists mind-body healing techniques for clients with PTSD, mood disorders, anxiety, and those who have experienced war and natural disasters



    NEW YORK, NY, April 02, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Richard P. Brown, MD, and Patricia Gerbarg, MD, teach "Breathe and Heal with the Power of the Breath" on a live Internet broadcast from the Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, NY, April 26-27. The Friday session, in partnership with the Chemung County Department of Mental Hygiene in Elmira, NY, is from 9 am to 6 pm, the Saturday session from 9 am to noon.

The workshop, open to anyone from around the world, will train yoga teachers, yoga therapists, and health care providers mind-body healing techniques to help clients recover from trauma and discover enhanced quality of life.

Practitioners will also learn techniques for their own personal use and be able to obtain a certificate of completion applicable to obtaining CEU's from their own professional organizations (details at registration).

"It is our belief that after learning the techniques developed by Dr. Brown and Dr. Gerbarg, the use of these approaches as an alternative to medication will be a tremendous asset in treatment of individuals suffering from PTSD, various mood disorders, anxiety, ADHD and life stressors in general," states Brian Hart, LCSW-R, Director of Community Services at Chemung County Department of Mental Hygiene.

Dr. Brown is Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Columbia University in New York. He gives over 200 medical lectures every year, including full-day courses for the American Psychiatric Association and other professional groups, as well as workshops for non-profits such as Serving Those Who Serve in New York City. He is a certified teacher of Aikido (4th Dan), Yoga, Qi Gong, and meditation. His workshops have helped thousands of people recover their health and well-being.

Dr. Gerbarg is an Assistant Professor in Clinical Psychiatry at New York Medical College. She graduated from Harvard Medical School and the Boston Psychoanalytic Society and Institute. In addition to her clinical practice, she provides consultation and facilitates the development of research projects on the health benefits of mind-body practices for recovery from mass disasters.
