AUTHOR OFFERS FREE E-BOOK TO HELP CONSOLE DEVASTATED METS FANS

Michael Wayne, author of the offbeat and irreverent novel, "The Knuckleball From Hell" is giving away his book free to Mets fans, in order to help restore their sanity and sense of joy after the team's collapse in the final weeks of the season.

/24-7PressRelease/ - SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY, October 05, 2007 - Right now, New York Mets fans across New York, the U.S., and the world, are having a very difficult time coping with the disastrous manner in which the team ended their 2007 baseball season. Up by seven games with only 17 to play, the club played listless, sloppy ball for the final weeks of the season and ended up playing their way out of the playoffs. Most experts are calling it the worst collapse by any team in the history of baseball.

For Mets fans, this is a very difficult and trying time, and a time they should be staying close to family and friends in order to get as much support as possible in their time of need. Many mental health facilities are currently working overtime to help with the crisis.

Michael Wayne, author of the novel, "The Knuckleball From Hell," which was released in June 2007 to rave reviews, with Mike Vaccaro of the New York Post calling it a "sweet, funny, baseball novel," has announced that he is giving his novel away in e-book format in order to give Mets fans something to laugh and cheer about and help them forget about what could have been.

"As a longtime Mets fan," Wayne said, "I'm going through exactly the same thing every other Mets fan is going through right now. I knew I had to do something to help, and so I decided to offer all fans my book for free, because it is something that will cheer them up and brighten their mood, and most importantly, stop them from doing something rash."

"The Knuckleball From Hell," which has the subtitle "A story of life, love, the New York Mets...and everything in between," is a highly irreverent and extremely offbeat and quirky tale of a fictional Mets team that has hit on hard times, and the rookie phenom pitcher who comes to save the day. Steve Reynolds of Zisk Magazine stated, "Wayne has concocted one doozy of a story that had me thinking of Kurt Vonnegut."

Wayne said that the e-book will be available as a free download for the entire month of October, "to coincide with the playoffs," he said. "This will help keep us distracted during this most painful month."
