The Renegades are a SPHL hockey team owned by Allan Harvie, also the founder of the former ECHL. The Renegades franchise began in 2006 at the Richmond Coliseum. They replaced the United Hockey League Richmond River Dogs who relocated to suburban Chicago for the 2006-2007 season as the Chicago Hounds. They are the second team to own the name "Renegades", the first being the ECHL team from 1990 to 2003.

Head coach Brian Goudie recently announced that Donald Melnyk is back coming for another great season, leading the Renegades to what is sure to be a victorious season.
