Meet Children's Book Author Ryke Douglas

Ryke Douglas created a program called Writer's Toolbox, which helps students learn to write.

Sinking Spring, PENNSYLVANIA, June 5, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ --- Providing more than 23 years of invaluable service as a teacher, Ryke Douglas wanted to help children gain an appreciation for reading. Her passion for writing coupled with her desire to help children discover the magic of books, led her to pursue a career as an author. Ms. Douglas creates captivating, entertaining stories and uses bright and colorful illustrations that allow children to nurture a love for reading. Some of her published works include The Princess and the Swan, Sam's Surprise, Tock-A-Tick, and Molly the Trolley and Bud.

Although her books are written for a third-grade independent reading level, they are suitable as read-aloud tales for younger children. Ms. Douglas' writing style allows for the development of positive attitudes and values, building of good character traits and encouragement of creative thinking; allowing children to explore, develop and discuss a variety of topics and issues. Her books also serve as complements to other curriculum subjects.

Passionate about helping children build a solid foundation, Ms. Douglas also hosts book readings and signings at schools, libraries, day care centers, museums and bookstores. She also conducts workshops for developing children's writing skills.
