Lucille D. Johnson Recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for Excellence in Human Services

Ms. Johnson has been honored as a VIP member with Worldwide Who's Who, as well as in their professional calendar and Pro-Files magazine

DILLINGHAM, AK, June 6, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Lucille Johnson, Director of Family Services for Bristol Bay Native Association, has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in human services.

Drawn to a career in human services, Ms. Johnson completed a Bachelor of Science in social work and a Master of Social Work, both at the University of Alaska. Upon completion of the degrees, she embarked on a career in human services which has spanned the past 27 years. In October 1990, Ms. Johnson began as a social worker for Bristol Bay Native Association. At the time, she was the only employee in her department. Two years later, she expanded her responsibilities to include children's services. By 1996, the social service department was formed and began providing services for children and the elderly. Based on merit and experience, Ms. Johnson was promoted to director of Bristol Bay Native Association in 1999. In her current position, she is responsible for 26 full-time employees, as well as several part-time workers. As their supervisor and mentor, she completes annual employee evaluations and reviews.

Bristol Bay Native Association serves 31 tribes and tribal members of the Bristol Bay region of Southwest Alaska. The nonprofit organization administers programs for children and families at risk for social, economic, or cultural hardship. The Tribal Children's Services Program offered through Bristol Bay Native Association was designed by Ms. Johnson. She was quoted as saying "Culture and family values are the root of who we are and where we came from, and that guides us in working with others. I honestly believe that with core values, our mission and vision will fall into place."

Throughout her illustrious multidecadal career, Ms. Johnson has garnered several awards. In 2003, she was inducted into Worldwide Who's Who as a lifetime member. Since her inclusion, she has been chosen as an outstanding VIP member three times and featured in their calendar of distinguished professionals. This year, Ms. Johnson was selected to be featured in the Pro-Files magazine. She feels her consistent success can be most aptly attributed to the support she receives from her family and the implementation of her core values in her social work endeavors.

Ever eager to remain a leader in the field of social work, Ms. Johnson keeps current through her affiliation with Tribal/State Collaborative Group, National Association of Social Workers, Alaska Child Welfare Initiative, Curyung Tribal Council, Alaska Native Indian Child Welfare Association, and SAFE. Naturally philanthropic, she also volunteers at high school basketball and volleyball games. Away from the demands of her work, Ms. Johnson enjoys quality time with her family, particularly her husband William, children Michael, Clinton, and Sarah, and grandchildren Brandon, Shania, Tierra, Peyton, Anthony, and Katalina. Together, they spend time fishing, hunting, and camping.
