Liesl Messerschmidt Inducted into Worldwide Who's Who for Excellence in Consulting

With 13 years of experience in public health and global development, and two years as director of Health and Development Consulting International LLC, Ms. Messerschmidt expertly offers her skills in client relations, program and project design and implementation, strategic and policy planning, institutional development, HR capacity building and skills training. Health and Development Consulting International LLC is a global health consultancy, female-owned, and established in 2011, that provides quality research, planning, proposal development, results and impact-oriented monitoring and evaluation, workshop facilitation, skills training and mentoring, communication materials, article writing, and professional editing services to clients working globally in health and socio-economic development.

Ms. Messerschmidt is well-versed in community-based public health, multidisciplinary social development, gender issues, integrated poverty alleviation, and has familiarity with qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, tools, protocols, social science processes, and analysis. A published and award winning researcher, writer, editor, designer, presenter, and photographer, she has experience working with international and local non-governmental organizations, bilateral and multilateral donors, government agencies, academic and research institutions, foundations, private for-profit businesses, and with the media. Prior to her present position, she worked and resided for years in South, Southeast and East Asia, including 13 years in Nepal and two in Thailand. She also served as the Director of Research for The Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR)'s TREAT Asia Program, as a technical backstop advisor to the Swiss Development and Cooperation Rural Health Development Program in Nepal, and as a technical consultant for Mercy Corps, CARE, FHI 360, UNICEF, ILO, Options, and others.

Having grown up in an environment of appreciation and respect for other cultures and peoples, she attributes her professional direction and success to her parents, both of whom were superior mentors. Ms. Messerschmidt received a Master of Public Health in Global Health Policy from The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Services with Academic Honors in 2003, and a Bachelor of Arts in International Development Studies with a concentration in gender issues and journalism, Magna cum Laude, from The University of Oregon Department for International Studies in 1997. In order to stay abreast of current trends in her field, she belongs to the American Public Health and the Washington State Public Health Associations, is registered with the Technical Support Facility for SEAP and South Asia, is a member of Worldwide Who's Who and a host of other organizations including many with global reach.

A dedicated member of her community, she supports a number of local and global charities, is being considered as a new Board Member of the Portland Area Global AIDS Coalition, and lends technical advice to SPOON Foundation. Outside of her professional career, she enjoys organic gardening, cooking, raising chickens, writing, photography, hiking, and volunteering at her son's prescool.

Ms. Messerschmidt began a new company called EDIT - Edit Design Innovate, this past January. EDIT is a spin-off business under HDCi that provides full design and editorial services on professional, academic, popular (press), and private documents, stories, other communications, and branding materials. She is the author of numerous publications, books, and presentations. In the coming years, Ms. Messerschmidt seeks continued growth.
