The Electric Daisy Carnival and Lovebox Weekender Provide the Chance for Some Unadulterated Partying in London This Weekend

The capital welcomes a swarm of music and film festivals, reports LondonTown.com.

LONDON, ENGLAND, July 18, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- London's answer to Glastonbury, the Lovebox Weekender, is back at Victoria Park this weekend for three days of live music and partying. With a huge range of musical styles across multiple stages and a friendly, music loving crowd, this is a park party that successfully captures the vibe of a proper festival. The line-up for 2013 includes Azealia Banks, Rudimental, Plan B, AlunaGeorge and Goldfrapp. A stone's throw away, at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, the Electric Daisy Carnival comes to London for the first time. A mainstay in the Las Vegas and Orlando music line-up and North America's largest dance music event, EDC brings some of the world's top dance and electronic performers such as Tiesto, Steve Angello, Nero and Fake Blood to the UK. Aside from the music, the carnival also hosts carnival rides, art installations, hundreds of costume-clad performers and giant puppets floating overhead. Festival-goers travelling from further afield can find a number of cheap London hotels on LondonTown.com.

A music festival of a smaller scale can be found at Walpole Park this weekend. The Ealing Blues Festival has been appropriately held at Walpole Park since 1987, which was the birthplace of British Rhythm & Blues, a scene that started in Ealing in 1962.

Away from the music, a couple of film festivals can also be enjoyed in London this weekend. The London Indian Film Festival returns for its fourth year and there's cause for celebration, with 2013 marking 100 years of Indian cinema. With a far-reaching programme of thrillers, dramas, comedies, short films, documentaries and song-and-dance blockbusters, the festival aims to dispel the myth that the industry is confined to Bollywood stereotypes. This year's festival opens with a UK Premiere of 'Monsoon Shootout', following its well-received screening at this year's Cannes festival, and closes with 'Bombay Talkies', a compilation of four short films which pay homage to the 100 year anniversary. The Backyard Cinema also returns this weekend with a mini movie festival. Taking place at London Fields Brewery, it will be a combination of films - 'The Hobbit', 'Jurassic Park' and 'Life of Pi' - the Brewery's own craft beers, beanbags, deckchairs, a BBQ and bunting.

Encouraging a stir of imagination and a challenge of intellect, The Wapping Project in east London hosts the second instalment of The Icarus Project this weekend. Running across three Saturdays in July (13th, 20th and 27th), the series of events welcomes a selection of leading thinkers to host a range of talks and encourage guests to get caught up in the heat of the debate. This Saturday invites columnist, novelist and human rights activist, Joan Smith; author and Literary Editor of The Times, Erica Wagner; and architecture critic of the Observe, Rowan Moore. All the talks are held in the gardens and are accompanied by a glass of Pimm's.

Having hosted four previous events, the Pop Up Ping Pong team return once more and they're moving up in the world, literally. Taking place on the 29th floor of the Millbank Tower, visitors can expect all the usual offerings - ping pong, booze, food and movies - but this time it will be set against the striking backdrop of London and boasts even more ping pong action.

A number of free events take place this weekend, including the Alexandra Park 150th Birthday Party, which boasts a wealth of family activities such as archery, face painting, tree climbing, pedalo races and fairground rides; the Tour de France Fan Park, the chance to catch up on all the cycling action and enjoy a number of live demonstrations and workshops; and the Lambeth Country Show, which brings the countryside to south London with a day of falconry shows, jousting, sheep dog displays and steam engines.

Helping Londoners make the most of their weekends, the LondonTown.com Something for the Weekend mailer rounds up the top ten best events in the capital every Saturday and Sunday.
