Skyscraper Outsourced: Number of Graduates in Entrepreneurship Doubled Since 2012

Skyscraper Outsourced welcomes news from freelancer website PeoplePerHour that the number of graduates registering as freelancers or small business owners has increased by 105% over the last 12 months.

NEWCASTLE, ENGLAND, July 31, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Skyscraper Outsourced is a marketing and sales firm based in Newcastle city centre. The company regularly attends entrepreneurship conferences and has piloted a business development programme which aims to develop business skills amongst entrepreneurial-minded individuals. A spokesperson for Skyscraper Outsourced said: "We welcome the news that more graduates are starting businesses. At Skyscraper Outsourced we are well aware that the development of small businesses is the key to recovering the economy, and it is great to see that the enthusiasm and work ethic of today's graduates are being put to good use."

The PeoplePerHour report follows on from a survey by office supply company Viking last year which showed that 76% of recent graduates considered starting a business as a viable career prospect, indicating that many graduates have indeed followed through on these plans. Skyscraper Outsourced is encouraged to report that the North East region is amongst the highest for aspiring entrepreneurs, with 78% of graduates considering starting up as an attractive prospect.

Skyscraper Outsourced reports that graduate interest in the firm's business development programme has grown since 2012. The company trades with independent contractors; the business development programme offers workshops and practical training sessions for more entrepreneurially-minded contractors to develop essential skills in sales, team leadership and business management. A spokesperson for Skyscraper Outsourced explained: "The programme allows individuals the flexibility to trade as an independent contractor, but with lower overheads and risks than starting a business from scratch. This way, individuals gain the experience and skills necessary to start a business, which will improve their chances of success when they do so. From speaking to our independent contractors, there is more interest in starting a business this year compared to last, particularly amongst the 18-24 year olds. We believe that high youth unemployment and the increased popularity of television shows such as The Apprentice and Dragons' Den have been contributing factors in graduates viewing entrepreneurship as a viable alternative to the traditional graduate job."

Skyscraper Outsourced is however concerned about students not being made aware of entrepreneurship as an option after graduation. According to the Viking report, the North East had the highest unemployment rate in England as of September 2012; however 67% of graduates reported that starting a business had not been mentioned as an option throughout their studies. "The studies show that graduates have the enthusiasm and the energy to start businesses, and with youth unemployment levels still high, entrepreneurship should be encouraged as early as possible," stated a spokesperson for Skyscraper Outsourced.
