The goal of this program is to provide technical school students with relevant and hands-on experience that will help them further their education and search for future employment. Students enrolled in this program spend four days a week working inside of plants located within The Offshore Group's manufacturing communities. Throughout the course of the semester, students are assigned real life projects directly related to their area of study. Clients of The Offshore Group who have opened their doors to these students include Benchmark Electronics, C&M Corporation, G.S. Precision, Horst Engineering, Incertec Special Processes, Intec Group, Jyco Sealing Technologies, Sergeant Controls, TE Connectivity Automotive, TE Connectivity Medical, Unlimited Services and Waukesha Bearings. Since 2010, The Offshore Group and CONALEP have collaborated to help 130 students successfully complete the program. Upon completing this program, the majority of the students procure jobs within The Offshore Group's manufacturing communities and some go on to further their education. In fact, a client of The Offshore Group awarded a recent graduate a scholarship to pursue an engineering degree.

According to Armando Lee, General Director of The Offshore Group's manufacturing communities in Guaymas and Empalme, the program is important for two key reasons:

"First of all, this program is about the students. We are giving them a chance to apply what they have learned in the classroom into real world situations. This is making them more capable and more marketable workers for companies in the Aerospace, Automotive and Medical Device industries as well as many others. Secondly, this program is important because developing local talent has many short-term and long-term implications. In the short-term, you are able to employ more capable and experienced workers and in the long-term, you are able to reduce turnover by becoming the employer of choice, which in turn will make our clients more competitive. "

By developing talent locally, The Offshore Group and CONALEP are helping manufacturers in Mexico ensure that they have the skilled labor they need now and in the future.
