OWEN SOUND, ONTARIO, CANADA, November 14, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- John Arthur Harrison, Founder, Creative Director and CEO of the Harrison Design Research Corporation, has been named a Worldwide Who's Who Executive of the Year in Heritage Planning and Interpretation. While inclusion in Worldwide Who's Who is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Worldwide Who's Who membership.

Mr. Harrison is an expert and consultant in design research and applications, futures and policy research, and cultural planning and heritage interpretation. He took over his paternal family business, John Harrison and Sons Co. Limited, in 1972 (the family business operations originated in 1848). He comes from two long lines of prominent Ontario business leaders. With socially and politically engaged great great grandparents, and descendants who were active in the Baptists Faith in N. America and Britain, and the progressive Mennonite movement in Ontario, including several politically active in the Ontario Legislature and Parliament of Canada, Mr. Harrison has also been inspired and widely active.

In project partnerships with other consultants, HDRC/Harrison has been a principal consultant in such projects as Science North in Sudbury, Canada, The SANCST Science Halls in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and the 1990s Installation of the Canadian Historical Collection at the Art Gallery of Ontario.

Mr. Harrison has also been an educator, lecturing and guest lecturing for community colleges, schools and organizations, and has articles and papers published in several disciplines. As a justice system analyst, he wrote a brief in 1994 on civil justice reform, parts of which were adopted and in use today.

Despite hardships and handicaps, Mr. Harrison has been able to lead the creation of several organizations and business developments at the private enterprise, not-for-profit and governmental levels. He has served as Founder and Chairman at the Harrison Tempo Organization since 1998, bringing his Harrison Design Research Corporation, the Tempo Foundation, the family company and related enterprises together into an affiliated synergistic group.

Mr. Harrison specializes in research pattern analysis, and is skilled at seeing and synthesizing trend flows and what those patterns mean in policy terms, in applied systems ecologies, and risks and opportunities. He has been actively involved in four key sectors: environmental planning and design, cultural policy, planning and development, tourism planning, design and development, and transportation planning and development. Project management, feasibility studies, consulting, writing, educating, coaching and mentoring, as well as organizational design, are parts of Harrison's services in these four sectors and others.

At the helm of the organization, Mr. Harrison attributes his successes in project development and team building to putting both vivid educated imagination and well researched knowledge to work, powering clarity of vision and committed action into outstanding innovations.

Mr. Harrison is a recipient of the National Heritage Achievement Award, as granted by The Heritage Canada Foundation jointly with Community Heritage Ontario, in 1993. He supports a number of worthy causes and enjoys walking, hiking, sailing, reading, and exploring new ideas, history, and current trends. In the years to come, Mr. Harrison will be active developing and educating in the community, cultural, design, business, tourism, transportation, energy and ecology sectors.
