DFW Elite Toy Museum Exhibits Rare Salesmen's Samples and Patent Models

Antiques Road Show appraised Adams Road Grader anchors new exhibit.

"We are very lucky to have acquired the Adams Road Grader sample with its case shortly after it was on Antiques Road Show. It would fetch north of ten thousand at auction today."

FORT WORTH, TX, January 09, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- DFW Elite Toy Museum's latest exhibit is all about the intricate models of products that helped salespeople get the order in the nineteenth and early 20th centuries.

The exhibit includes a working demonstrator model of a late 19th century Adams Road Grader that was appraised on an episode of Antiques Road Show as well as many other antique sales presentation models and patent models.

"Salesmen's samples were often used to demonstrate large-scale equipment that would have been hard to demonstrate to prospects far from the factory otherwise," said DFW Museum owner Ron Sturgeon. "Imagine trying to explain a folding attic stair or show prospects how a hay baler or road grader works without a working scale model," said Sturgeon.

"We are very lucky to have had the chance to acquire the Adams Road Grader sample with its case shortly after it was on Antiques Road Show," said Rodney Ross, museum curator. "It is in near mint condition and would likely fetch north of ten thousand dollars at auction today."

DFW Elite Toy Museum has a 3000-piece collection of antique toys, rare scale models, and one-of-a-kind auto memorabilia. It houses one of the America's largest collections of German driving school models. The museum is pet-friendly, public and admission is free.

DFW Elite Toy Museum is a celebration of the ingenuity of salespeople and inventors and the vital roles both have played in fueling the innovation that makes America's standard of living the envy of the world.
