African American Male Youth Conference Celebrates 25th Anniversary Event in Sacramento

Key Regional Event Sponsored and Run by The 100 Black Men of Sacramento Continues Focus on Expanding the Cultural and Educational Horizons of Young African American Males



    SACRAMENTO, CA, March 03, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The African American Male Youth Conference celebrated its 25th anniversary annual meeting in Sacramento on Saturday February 22, 2014. Held at the Sacramento Accelerated Academy and Serna Center, and attended by well over 300 dignitaries, educators, influencers, and African American youth from across the region, the event was hailed as an overwhelming success.

"I was honored and humbled to be a part of the 100 Black Men of Sacramento's 25th Annual African American Male Youth Conference" said Michael J. Brown, President of 100 Black Men of America. "The commitment to the youth and community mirrors efforts that occur in over 100 chapters across our chapter network. I congratulate Chapter President Daniel Bryant and the members of the 100 of Sacramento for hosting over 250 young males this year to such an outstanding day long program. To co-founders Gerald Bryant, Reggie Sears, Dr. James Reede and Frank Withrow, thank you for your vision and thought leadership. Your legacy is alive and well 25 years later and for the next 25 years to come."

The event was keynoted by Allen Warren, Sacramento City Councilman, 2nd District, and included an array of talented speakers from the community, including UCANN and City Youth, to discuss a broad spectrum of topics of particular value to young Black males. With 16 workshops, the topics ranged from health care (HIV & AIDS) to the legal/criminal justice system, planning for college, hip-hop and the media, decision-making skills, money management, and social media.
