BOSTON, MA, April 03, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Acclaimed vocalist Gabrielle Goodman (a Roberta Flack protege) has just released her new CD entitled Spiritual Tapestry. The CD includes 12 Negro Spirituals with various exciting treatments ranging from smooth jazz to traditional jazz to gospel.

Smooth jazz lovers will be thrilled to hear her collaboration with saxophonist Walter Beasley on Deep River with an arrangement that is reminiscent of Patti Labelle and Grover Washington including elements of gospel and jazz. It has even been said that Goodman sounds like a young Aretha Franklin on this track. The CD includes performances with musical giants like Patrice Rushen (piano) on City Called Heaven and Heaven Heaven, where they are also joined by Grammy Award winner Terri Lyne Carrington on drums offering a hint of the funky New Orleans Second Line sound. Goodman blends soul and jazz in her vocal interpretation on many treasures including the soothing standout Steal Away that ends with a quote from Someday We'll All Be Free. Spiritual Tapestry, which is currently available on iTunes and amazon.com, begins with Motherless Child featuring Ms. Goodman with brother David Alan Bunn (piano) and Carrington on drums setting the stage for the following 11 tracks taking listeners on a jazz infused musical journey. Joined by an incredible array of musicians including Yoron Israel (drums), Will Lydagate (bass), Jiri Nedoma (piano), Ron Ried, (bass), Jonathan Singleton (piano) vocalist Matthew Truss and Sean Dustin (drums) interchangeably throughout the CD, Ms. Goodman breathes new life into the oft covered classics while paying tribute to several genres.
