TravelSim is Selling Travel SIM Cards for the FIFA World Cup 2014

The company is selling SIM cards to those travelling to the World Cup this year.

NICE, FRANCE, May 06, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- With the 2014 FIFA World Cup now less than two months away from its start date, the telecommunications industry is under huge pressure in Brazil to provide for the increase in number of people looking to use mobile services during the event. International SIM card provider TravelSim has announced that it has South American SIM cards available for sale for the event. These SIM cards will cover the territory using TravelSim's cutting edge technlogy and call back service, saving costs for those travelling to the event and ensuring that they can stay in contact whilst in Brazil.

The demand for international roaming and data will be huge during and after matches, as upwards of 500,000 fans are expected to make the trip to Brazil for the event from all corners of the globe. The push to improve the telecommunications infrastructure has been huge, as the World Cup is followed by the Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, just two years later.

The question has been posed whether Brazil's telecommunication industry is ready to accept such a huge influx of people and a dramatic increase in the number of mobile phone users over such a short period of time. Throughout 2013, there was a push to increase the influence of 3G all over the country and roll out technologies such as LTE and FttP. Nevertheless, it has been 3G which has been invested in the most by the Brazilian government over the past year in a bid to have the country mobile ready for the World Cup.

According to Cellular News, some stadiums have had Distributed Antenna Systems added, which means they should be capable of meeting demand from those inside the stadium. Therefore, TravelSim will look to take advantage of these additional systems to sell their services to those travelling to Brazil who would like to keep in contact with family and friends back home. The prices on the TravelSim website state that an incoming call in Brazil with TravelSim will cost EUR 0.25 per minute, whilst it will cost EUR 0.35 to send a text message with the service.

TravelSim provides a seamless call back service which picks up your call and connects it to the number you have dialled, before calling you back. The service helps save up to 85% on roaming charges.
