Plastics News Highlights Dymotek for Attracting Young Talent

New England Manufacturer Acquires Young Talent through Community Colleges.

ELLINGTON, CT, July 02, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- In a time when northeast manufacturing is facing a difficult trifecta of automation, outsourcing and lack of interest in manufacturing amongst top young talent, plastics manufacturer Dymotek Corporation has managed to buck the trend by growing both its revenues and its ability to offer strong careers to the region's graduates. In a recent Issue of Plastics News, Dymotek was recognized for hiring and training young talent. The company works very closely with surrounding community colleges in an effort to promote 21st century manufacturing careers and develop the skill sets necessary for the next generation of employees. Through these specially created local manufacturing programs, Dymotek has invested in four interns, who were eventually hired as full- time employees in the Quality and Tooling departments.

Plastic News described the journey of Christopher LaBranche who joined the company as part of a Manufacturing Technology Program offered at Asnuntuk Community College in nearby Enfield, CT. LaBranche joined Dymotek as a tooling apprentice in 2013 while he continued his schooling. LaBranche earned both credit toward his certificate and on the job training at Dymotek. The success of the program resulted in LaBranche joining the company as a full- time Tooling Technician in 2014. He has since traveled to Germany and Austria for additional training. LaBranche discussed his recent trip with Plastic News and how the combination of education and training peaked his interest in manufacturing and prepared him for the next step. LaBranche notes that Dymotek "proves day in and day out that they are willing to invest in their employees and place trust in them to help further the company."

This public-private partnership between an entrepreneurial manufacturer and local academia is a testament to manufacturing apprenticeship programs and the new skills needed for northeast manufacturers to remain competitive. It also keeps top talent in the region. Chief Technology Officer, Victor Morando believes that "Part of working with interns or apprentices is the general good you are doing for our work force. If that person lands at some other company, we still have made an improvement in that person. If enough of us are promoting and educating manufacturing careers we all we move forward." The company plans to continue working with local community colleges to fill its ever growing facility with quality workers. In an effort to encourage interest in the manufacturing field, Dymotek offers weekly tours to the public.
