Terrance L. Stinnett Honored for Legal Expertise and Hard Work

Terrance L. Stinnett was named a Super Lawyer in Bankruptcy Law in Northern California and is AV Preeminent Rated by Martindale-Hubbell.

    FREMONT, CA, August 14, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Terrance L. Stinnett, Vice President, General Counsel, Secretary and Director for Fremont Bank and Fremont Bancorporation, has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in law and finance.

Terrance Stinnett brings more than 43 years of legal experience and expertise in bankruptcy law and business reorganization to his current roles. He has served as General Counsel and Secretary for Fremont Bank and Fremont Bancorporation for the past eight years and has also served as a Director of both Fremont Bank and its holding company Fremont Bancorporation since 1990. In addition, Mr. Stinnett serves as Chair of the Board Loan Committee and the Directors' Fair Lending Committee, and maintains membership in the Directors' Research and Technology Committee, Compliance Committee, and Officers' Loan Committee. Fremont Bank was founded by Mr. Stinnett's uncle, Morris Hyman, in 1964. Mr. Hyman would later become a role model and early influence on Mr. Stinnett. Other early influences in his life include his parents, Lloyd and Gertrude Stinnett. Tragically, shortly after enrolling in law school, after initially intending to pursue a career in science, Mr. Stinnett's father was paralyzed by a stroke, leaving his mother in charge of their family-owned bakery. Inspired by their hard work and dedication, Mr. Stinnett resolved to thrive in his new undertaking and become a successful lawyer, a feat that he has accomplished.

As an attorney, Mr. Stinnett specialized in bankruptcy law and business reorganization law for 34 years with the San Francisco law firm of Goldberg, Stinnett, Meyers & Davis and its predecessors before being named General Counsel and Secretary for Fremont Bank and Fremont Bancorporation where he still handles bankruptcy related matters for the Bank.

Mr. Stinnett received a B.S. from Stanford University in 1962 and a JD, Magna Cum Laude, from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1969. Recently inducted into Worldwide Registry, he also maintains affiliation with the Banking and Business Law Section of the American Bar Association, Bar Association of San Francisco, and State Bar Association of California. He is also a former member and Chair of the Bench-Bar Liaison Committee of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of California, and a member of the Turnaround Management Association, Phi Alpha Delta, and California Bankruptcy Forum.

Mr. Stinnett has received numerous awards and accolades for his legal expertise. He was named a Super Lawyer in Bankruptcy Law in Northern California, and was named a Life Time Member and Leading Lawyer of the Year in 2011 by Marquis Who's Who in America. Additionally, he is AV Preeminent Rated by Martindale-Hubbell and is listed in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Law, Who's Who in the World, Best Lawyers in America, Kipling's Who's Who of Leading Business Professionals, American Registry of Outstanding Professionals and was Continental Who's Who Leading Lawyer of the Year in 2011. Additionally, he was named the 2007 Professional of the Year in Bankruptcy Law by American Registry.

While pursuing his law degree, Mr. Stinnett served as Associate Editor of the Santa Clara Law Review. He is the author of Standards to Guarantee Effective Assistance of Counsel, which has been cited by Bernard Witkin in his Summary of a Criminal Law. Mr. Stinnett was a law clerk for the Hon. Thomas Caldecott, California Court of Appeal, First Appellate District, Division Three. Outside of work, he serves as President of Project Second Chance, Inc., the Contra Costa County Library's adult literacy program. In years to come, Mr. Stinnett hopes to sustain his current level of professional achievement.
