She has been named a "SuperLawyer" for 10 consecutive years. In 2014 her law firm received the prestigious "Firm Foundation Award" from the Barristers of the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association. The firm also has been named one of Michigan's Best businesses, and Ms. Kienbaum has been saluted by Corp! Magazine and NAWBO as one of the Top 10 Michigan Business Women. A former high school teacher, Ms. Kienbaum left that important vocation to join a profession where she believed could do even more to improve the world around her. After a stint as a public defender, she served as in-house counsel for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Ford Motor Company. For the past 16 years, leading her own firm, she has refined her expertise in labor and employment law and commercial litigation. Ms. Kienbaum works tirelessly in private consultations, or in federal or state courts, to protect her clients as they address worklife issues such as discrimination or contract interpretation. Ms. Kienbaum serves as a neutral Arbitrator on the American Arbitration Association's (AAA) Labor and Employment Panels. Separately, Ms. Kienbaum is President and founder of the innovative risk management program "JustUs ". It minimizes fraud and legal exposure while ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory and ethics standards.
Ms. Kienbaum, a dual degree University of Michigan undergraduate, earned a JD from the Detroit Mercy School of Law in 1975. She is committed to a number of civic and Bar associations, and is a Board member of St. John's Ascension Medical Resources Group. She is a past-President of both the Detroit Bar Assoc. and the American Corporate Counsel Assoc. (MI Chapter.) More recently, with the Center for International Legal Studies (CILS) in Austria, she has expanded the audience for her expertise. Her "of counsel" position with a Traverse City law firm, Swogger, Bruce & Millar, PC, ensures excellent service to her clients in northern Michigan. Her objectives are that all companies and their workers will have the tools to improve their workplace environment to enhance their mutual success.
